JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: ACCOUNTANT

CLASSIFICATION: TECHNICAL

GRADE LEVEL: ONE – FOUR

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Accountant applies principles of accounting and auditing to analyze financial information, auditing procedures and performs financial reporting by performing the duties described below.

SUPERVISION BY: CONTROLLER

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile and analyze financial and statistical information to prepare entries to accounts, such as accounts payable, prepaid assets and accrued liabilities, documenting business transactions
  • Audit contracts, purchase orders, vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement
  • Audit current practices within functional area for compliance with established operating procedures and prepares written report
  • Help design and perform operational, administration and farebox audits
  • Use database reporting tools to develop and generate accounting and statistical reports
  • Perform the necessary steps required to properly input, maintain, process, and record the Accounts Payable records, up to and including payment of vendors
  • Perform the necessary steps required to properly input, maintain, process, and record the Accounts Receivable records, up to and including the invoicing of customers
  • Maintain consistent and effective management relationships
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to operate computer software necessary to perform job duties
• Writing and math skills

• Experienced PC skills that include Microsoft Office and SQL database or like applications
• Experience in Crystal Report Writing is a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 3 years experience in Accounting
