The Town of Jackson is accepting applications for the full time position of Transit Operations Manager for the START Bus System. Position reports to Transit Director and is responsible for managing all facets of daily operations, including schedule creation and assignments, selecting and training drivers, managing personnel, ensuring accurate data entry and budget oversight, customer service, identification and implementation of areas for improvements related to the Transit operations, and all associated documentation.
The Transit Operations Manager works with a team of 4 Supervisors, up to 70 drivers depending on the season, and an Administrative Assistant. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: a Bachelor’s Degree in transit management or related field, three (3) years increasingly responsible professional experience in mass transit field with supervisory experience, and possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement (CDL) or ability to obtain.
The ideal candidate will have a values based outlook, proven experience managing staff, excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept with Microsoft Excel, and possess a professional demeanor to successfully represent START Bus to elected and appointed boards, community groups, and the public.
