Legislature Approves Record Funding for Transit in 2024

The Michigan Legislature, in completing action on the 2024 state budget during the final week of June, approved record funding for Public Transportation, including an increase of $15 million in the Local Bus Operating line item over 2023 record numbers, as well as a special one-time appropriation of an additional $45 million for public transportation bus operations, bringing the total increase to $60 million for 2024 for bus operating activities.  In addition, there is a substantial investment in the bus capital line item of over $30 million toward matching available federal funding for buses, facilities and other capital spending.  There are also other line items that positively increase funding for public transportation-related functions of state government.
